Chelsea College of Art:
Here Raishma studied foundation course of art and design. This was Raishma's introduction into the fashion industry.
De Montfort University:
Raishma completed her BA Hons in fashion and textiles at De Montford University studying pattern cutting, stand draping, designing a collection, trend predictions, fashion marketing and business studies,
Elizabeth Emmanuel:
In 1996, Raishma was then fortunate enough to secure the role of Assistant Designer to Elizabeth Emmanuel - designer of Princess Diana’s Wedding Dress.
She worked alongside Elizabeth helping to launch her new store in Chiltern Street in central London. Raishma also helped liaise with Elizabeth’s celebrity clients - Ringo Star amongst others.
She also created story boards and design ideas for all up-and-coming bridal and eveningwear collections. Raishma gained experience with corsetry and couture-finishing, with perhaps the best creative mentor anyone could wish for!
Bella Freud:
Raishma then had the opportunity to obtain a work placement with Bella Freud. Working as part of the design team at Bella's studio, she helped to prepare for that year's London Fashion Week.
Raishma thoroughly enjoyed the experience, it proving to be an invaluable insight to the workings of the British fashion industry, the worlds of marketing and PR and dealing with the media.
Bruce Oldfield:
Raishma then went on a work placement under the renowned British fashion designer Bruce Oldfield. This was an another unique and invaluable experience for Raishma. Raishma learned couture finishing and pattern cutting in Bruce's design studio, where he was suitably impressed by Raishma’s draping skills and general design ability.
